For the future Black role models...

Black Is Next is a campaign aimed at Black students who are taking the step toward college.

I wanted to encourage these students to aim higher and expect more from themselves.

We need more Black teachers, CEOs, doctors, and other professionals in Europe—people who can serve as role models and inspire the next generation. To spread this message, I decided to use durags with the slogan “BLACK IS NEXT” printed on them. The durag has been a popular and meaningful item in the Black community for years, and it's a powerful way to connect with and empower that community. By wearing this durag, not only does the wearer carry the message—but everyone who sees it is reminded: Black is next.

The campaign doesn’t stop with the durag.

In school areas, you’ll also see billboards with the same message—“Black Is Next”—featuring a QR code in the corner. When you scan the code, you’ll be directed to the Black Is Next Instagram page, where you’ll find more information about the campaign. There, you’ll also get a preview of an app that highlights inspiring Black role models and their stories.
